KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Sports gambling is coming to the Show-Me State.
Missouri voters passed Amendment 2 on Wednesday with 50.1% of the vote, according to unofficial election results.
The amendment passed by a margin of less than 7,500 votes or 0.256%. The possibility of a recount can be triggered at 0.5% or lower in Missouri.
A recount could be requested, but there are no automatic recounts in Missouri.
Missourians Against the Deceptive Online Gambling Amendment, the political action committee that spearheaded opposition to Amendment 2 in Missouri, does not plan to request a recount, a spokesperson told KSHB 41 News on Wednesday afternoon.
Amendment 2 becomes state law 30 days after the election — though a final certification, which isn’t expected to change the outcome, might not come until Dec. 10 under Missouri law.
