ALBANY, Ore. — Teachers and staff with Greater Albany Public Schools held a large rally outside of the district building Saturday afternoon as their union continues to prepare for a potential strike starting next week.
Despite numerous marathon mediation sessions with the district, the union said they have not seen meaningful movement to meet the union’s demands on pay, school safety and student resources. Dana Lovejoy is the President of the Greater Albany Education Association and is currently working with the school district.
“Our bargaining team is inside in mediation, and we’re trying to avoid a strike on Tuesday, and we are working on trying to reach an agreement,” Lovejoy said.
