Here’s a question: How do you keep Alaskans from leaving Alaska?
Well, finding an answer to that question was the purpose of this gathering at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Lots of different organizations got together to talk about what’s called outmigration – people leaving Alaska.
They also explored ideas on what could keep people in the 49th state.
U.S. Representative Mary Peltola hosted the event: “We want our kids and grandkids to stay in Alaska. We want to be attractive to the folks in the lower 48 to come help fill the positions that we are desperate for.”
This discussion about how to keep people in Alaska and what could attract people in the lower 48 to the last Frontier will continue into Friday here at UAA.
