COLUMBIA – An efficient storm water management system can make a big impact on a community when it comes to managing flood waters. For a decade on Alan Lane, their system was failing.
Multiple residents told KOMU 8 that over the years, they’ve spent thousands of dollars fixing issues related to excessive flooding.
However, the main setback has been the property owners. On Alan Lane, an initial plan was proposed to fix the system but some homeowners took issue with the water pipe being built through their properties.
The city, as well as the county, do have a system in place designed to check up on storm water systems that are at risk of failing.
