Alabaster City Schools making progress on workforce academy for students [Video]

ALABASTER, Ala. (WBRC) – Alabaster City Schools is making good progress with their new workforce opportunity for students.

They have several industry partners on board.

Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said this space will be life changing for students and their goal is to prepare the next generation to be able to go into the workforce and successfully get a job.

The $1.9 million investment will house the A.C.E.S. Alternative School, a community gathering space, and the highly anticipated Champions Craft Academy.

“Welding, HVAC, building construction, industrial maintenance, because those job needs in our community are there and we have so much interest in them,” Dr. Vickers said.

Each space will be about 3,000 square feet that will include a classroom and lab space.

“Where our students will have access to high levels of workforce preparation, certification programs and partnerships with local businesses,” Dr. Vickers said.

And every student that attends the craft academy will be connected to a job …
