Akron police investigate 2 robberies related to Facebook Marketplace [Video]

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – Akron police are investigating two separate Facebook Marketplace robberies that happened Tuesday.

According to a press release from the Akron Police Department, the first robbery happened when a 24-year-old victim arranged to meet and sell his ATV on the 1200 block of Wilber Avenue.

The victim met the would-be “buyers” around 2:30 p.m. That is when one of the three suspects pulled out a handgun and took the ATV.

The other suspects fled on foot, according to the release.

About 15 minutes after the robbery, officers found one of the suspects, a 17-year-old boy, riding the stolen ATV in the 1000 block of Ackley Street.

According to the release, the suspect was arrested and charged with robbery and receiving stolen property. He was then taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility.
