Airbus relies on local talent for recent success [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – 500 commercial airplanes doesn’t come easy. Especially for a facility that just opened in 2015. But that’s exactly what Airbus has done with this latest plane for Delta Airlines.

“What has been developed in Mobile is the very fast development of a commercial aerospace ecosystem,” said Kevin Michaels, Managing Director of Aerodynamic Advisory.

Since Airbus opened, they’ve seen their workforce grow from 350 people to around 2,000 employees. Experts say growth like this is a testament to the state’s commitment to aerospace manufacturing training.

“Alabama has shown a capacity to train workers in a way that a lot of other states in the United States have not. The state is extremely well organized in the way that it pursues and courts potential aerospace investors to come to the region.”
