AIB to invest 20m in new climate and education programmes [Video]

AIB has announced it is to invest €20m in battling climate change and fund cutting edge research to meet ‘the challenges of the future’.

Half of the funding will go to the AIB Trinity Climate Hub which brings researchers together through Trinity College to address challenges around maintaining a stable and liveable climate, securing biodiversity and reversing water degradation. 

The bank say they “will be the lead industry partner supporting research” and “developing capacity for addressing these challenges through the AIB Climate Leaders programme”. 

They say the “research will provide new ways of adopting and scaling up existing solutions, and enabling the rapid development of new ideas, technologies, social structures and economic tools needed for the transitions ahead.”

The bank has also committed €10m to support PhD research through Innovate for Ireland, a public-private partnership and flagship initiative of Ireland’s Global Talent Strategy.
