JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Three of the eight statewide elected officials are trading jabs and they’re all in the same party.
You may remember State Auditor Shade White releasing his “Project Momentum” at the end of October. He said then that he knew there would be some people unhappy with the report.
“Finding $300 million in waste, because those are all taxpayer dollars,” said White during the press conference on October 28.
Fast forward to less than two months later and an Attorney General’s opinion is requested by Sen. John Polk and issued on whether White had the authority to hire the out-of-state firm to do the study in the first place.
Her answer? He was outside of his authority. And that kicked off a war of words and brought another Republican statewide official into the back and forth.
