Agricultural Trades Show brings Maine’s vibrant farming community together [Video]

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, there are 7,000 farming operations in Maine that supply food and other organic products to people across the U.S.

AUGUSTA, Maine — Farmers, animal breeders, and agricultural workers from across Maine are gathering this week at the Augusta Civic Center for the state’s largest agricultural trades show.

“Every business, every industry is competing, but agriculture is a different vibe. It’s people who depend on one another, take care of one another,” Jim Britt, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry, said. “It’s a big community.”

This year, more than 100 exhibitors are showcasing products, services, and resources for agricultural professionals. The event provides not only provides a marketplace but also a hub for education and collaboration.

For newcomers to the field, beginner farmer programs and other educational opportunities are available, offering critical resources to help them navigate the industry.
