Texas A&M junior defensive end Nic Scourton earned second-team honors on the Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference football team on Wednesday.
Scourton, who has declared for the NFL Draft, tied Arkansas senior Landon Jackson for the second spot on the second team. Ole Miss senior Princely Umanmielen and South Carolina’s Kyle Kennard were the defensive ends on the first team with Kennard being named the league’s defensive player of the year. Tennessee junior running back Dylan Sampson was the offensive player of the year.
Scourton was the lone A&M player selected. The Aggies (8-4) opened league play 5-0, but lost the last three games to end in a tie for fourth place with Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Missouri and South Carolina.
