The eastern equine encephalitis virus is still present in mosquitoes in Vermont, but local school districts have pivoted to make participation in evening sports possible. Colchester is one of several high-risk towns in Vermont for the “Triple E” virus, and the school district has shifted afternoon practices and games one to two hours earlier to beat the mosquitoes coming out at dusk.”Our families and our students have been very supportive of the change.
