After being closed for 3 decades, historic building in North Knox getting a makeover [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Community Development Corporation announced earlier this week that they had sold a 100-year-old building as a commercial rental property, bringing in new business.

Their goal is to bring more people into that part of town.

“With this anchor at Sanitary Laundry sort of breathing life into that section of the block, you have an intersection that arguably is one of the oldest, most historic and most interesting in all of Knoxville,” KCDC CEO Ben Bentley said.

With the construction taking place at a historic building, KCDC is hopeful even more businesses follow suit and move into North Knoxville.

“Well, anytime business like that move to an area that historically has been underutilized in terms of people on the street, it’s a good thing for economic development,” Bentley said.
