Advocacy group hosts know your rights workshop after immigration executive orders [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – As President Trump issues more executive orders on immigration, we’re talking to groups in central Alabama who are helping people navigate what may happen in the coming days or weeks.

Since President Trump’s inauguration and his executive orders cracking down on immigration, Allison Hamilton has been busy fielding calls from the community. She’s the executive director of the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice.

“There’s a lot of fear. There’s a lot of misinformation about what Trump has the ability to do, about what he wants to do and what state and local law enforcement want to do,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton and her colleagues have been informing their members, families, and the community about why it’s important to know your rights and how to plan in the event immigration officials show up at your front door, business, or somewhere else.
