Adaptive kayaking offers opportunities for those with disabilities [Video]

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) – The 17th year of Adaptive Kayaking is a chance to bring those with disabilities together to have fun and learn something new. Adaptive Kayaking gives those who struggle an adaptive tool to help them be successful.

“(It is) building awareness for individuals who maybe aren’t seen in a good light in the community. (It is) the opportunity to get out and experience the water,” Jake Roelse, a participant from Wisconsin Rapids, said.

The event welcomes eager new faces every year.

“It gives me an opportunity to learn something new,” Iyla Barge of Wisconsin Rapids said.

People with disabilities do not always have the same opportunities as other people. Holding events like this is a way to show people can do anything they set their mind to — no matter who they are.
