AAU basketball team brought media star Cam Wilder to Lincoln [Video]

Josiah Harris never thought he would catch Cam Wilder’s attention.

Harris, a 16-year-old student at Lincoln Northwest High School, had organized a so-called “park takeover” pickup basketball game June 26 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus on behalf of Drive For Greatness, a local Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball team where Harris works on media and graphics.

“I just wanted to give a reason to help kids stay out of the street, give them a reason to do something fun,” Harris said.

They expected 100 people at most, but about 500 showed up. Husker basketball player Connor Essegian posted about the event on X, formerly known as Twitter.

That caught the attention of Wilder, a former Midland University basketball player and social influencer, who heard about the event and wanted to bring the AAU team he coaches to Lincoln for a game.
