AAMU celebrates Fall 2024 graduates at commencement ceremonies [Video]

School leaders distributed diplomas at the Event Center Friday morning.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama A&M University held its Fall 2024 Commencement Ceremony Friday morning, marking a milestone for graduates and the institution as it approaches its 150th anniversary in 2025.

Diplomas were distributed at the Event Center to Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 semester graduates across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. The ceremony featured as commencement speaker Michelle Watkins, an alumna who has become a trailblazing leader in the Huntsville community.

Watkins, the first Black woman elected to the Huntsville City Council, = holds multiple degrees from Alabama A&M University, including a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, a Master’s in Secondary Education, and an Education Specialist Degree. 

Throughout her eight-year tenure on the Huntsville City School Board, Watkins was instrumental in driving significant educational improvements.
