Back in June, WYFF told you about Hannah Gibson, who experienced an amniotic fluid embolism while giving birth. An amniotic fluid embolism is a rare but severe condition and is the second leading cause of maternal death, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The Homeland Park community has shown up in a major way to support Gibson financially through donations and event benefits. The road to recovery is more than a journey to better health; it’s an endless pursuit of looking beyond what you see to believe what you know. “I was scared,” Gibson said. On June 10, Gibson gave birth to baby Lucas. Shortly after, she suffered an amniotic fluid embolism. “That scared me to death to know that I could have died, or baby Lucas could have died.
