Studies show Idaho has a small population of trans people. This is the first Trans March in Boise, organizers said it celebrates visibility and solidarity.
BOISE, Idaho — The Transgender population is relatively small, not only in Idaho but in the U.S. According to the Williams Institute, a think tank at UCLA Law that is dedicated to conducting research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy, in 2022, 8,000 people considered themselves transgender in the Gem State. In Idaho the population is 1.939 million.
For people of the Trans community Boise Pride is important and this year the festival is having its first ever Trans Joy March organized by A Queer Chaplain. The theme is “out of the Shadows and Into the Light.”
