LONGVIEW, Texas — A joint venture between law enforcement in Longview and Gregg County made its debut Thursday afternoon.
“Our unveiling of our very exciting new public safety and community equipment,” Longview Mayor Kristen Ishihara said.
The armored rescue vehicle, a Lenco BearCat G3, and new mobile command center were revealed at City Hall among city and county officials. The vehicles were part of a two-year collaborative effort.
The mobile incident command post is equipped with the latest crime fighting computer, tracking and video technology. It has separate operation and command work areas.
The BearCat will be used by the joint Longview Police Department and Gregg County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams, replacing a 16-year-old vehicle.
