MSCS board members focus on moving district forward after firing Dr. Feagins [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Memphis Shelby County School Board members hosted a press conference Thursday after six voted to fire Dr. Marie Feagins as superintendent.

This press conference comes just a day after an attorney representing board members provided a 200-page document detailing allegations against the former superintendent.

Board members spoke about moving the district forward.

At the end of the press conference, the interim superintendent shared a few words with the public.

The board says they will not have to pay Dr. Feagins anything because they say, she was fired with cause.

Dr. Marie Feagins came to MSCS from Detroit with years of experience in education in various roles.

Less than a year on the job, the school board began calling for her removal.

Attorney Robert Spence, who represents the school board members, released the 200-page report detailing reasons for firing Dr. Feagins.

It says she misled the school board about $1 million in overtime wages for a time, not worked.
