One man seriously burned and multiple people displaced following fire in Ellsworth | News [Video]

ELLSWORTH — One person has been hospitalized with life threatening injuries and multiple people are displaced following a fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Ellsworth Wednesday morning.

Several departments responded to the Meadow View apartment complex off Main Street in Ellsworth shortly after 8 a.m. for a fire that badly damaged a multi-unit building and severely injured a man. 

According to Ellsworth’s Fire Chief, they found heavy smoke upon arrival. 

“As additional units showed up we found that we had extension into a community space through the roof area, we were able to confine the fire to the roof area and the area of origin for the apartment,” said Chief Scott Guillerault with the Ellsworth Fire Department. 

Following their investigation, the Fire Marshals Office has determined the fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking material. As a result, there was significant damage to the room where the …
