Causeway Studios kickstarts mystery adventure genre with debut videogame

“The Haunting of Joni Evers” boasts a dreamy close-but-not-quite-realistic visual style that wears its vintage David Lynch mystery inspiration proudly.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Causeway Studios is proving the pen is mightier than the sword by jumping head-first into the genre of narrative-focused adventure games.

The group, founded in Springdale by Studio Director Kjartan Kennedy and Creative Director Greg Rogers, began as a “what if” when they worked together at the University of Arkansas’s Tesseract game design center.

Over the following few years, Kennedy moved to Seattle and worked for other companies like Amazon and Unity at the same time Rogers rose to become a director at Tesseract. 

One thing never changed — the two never stopped theorizing ideas for a possible future project.
