Some areas have issued travel bans on Monday as a three-day event of snow and dangerously cold temperatures bear down on Western New York.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Heavy lake effect snow falling Monday through Wednesday has caused some areas to issue travel bans and advisories in Western New York.
In an updated map from Erie County at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday they said “TRAVEL ADVISORIES are now in place for all of Erie County, including the northtowns (Village of Akron, Amherst, Clarence, Grand Island, Village of Kenmore, Newstead, City of Tonawanda, Tonawanda, Village of Williamsville). A TRAVEL BAN remains in place for the Town of Brant and Village of Farnham. Drivers should take extra care on the roads, and plan for additional time during this evening’s commute.”
Erie County executive Mark Poloncarz has announced that all county officeswill close early at 3 p.m. due to the weather. People with appointments are asked to contact those offices to reschedule. …
