SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The day-long Springfield Multicultural Festival had around 50 exhibitors and 11 different live performances.
The festival, an event that connects diverse people with diverse community resources, took place at the Oasis Convention Center Monday. The festival featured interactive booths, performance pop-ups, and a build-your-own burrito bar for guests to enjoy.
The event was also an opportunity for individuals in the community to share their heritage in a family-friendly environment. Samuel Knox, event coordinator for Springfield Multicultural Festival, shares what it means for this event to be held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“I think that his ground-level message was connecting people,” said Knox, referring to King. “Making sure that folks, regardless of their different background and different ethnicities, that there was a way to connect on a level that I think that we’ll all be proud of.”
