Macon-Bibb warming shelters preparing for possible heavy weather conditions [Video]

MACON, Ga. — As the cold weather makes its presence known, Macon-Bibb homeless shelters are coming together to ensure no one is left without a warm place to stay.

United Way to End Homelessness says they are extending overnight stay hours and opening extra bed spaces at all shelters in town. 

While most people consider their home to be four walls and a roof. Others have to figure out every day where they will be sleeping especially during the winter season.

“I was staying at the Salvation Army last night,” Sharon Guilford said. 

Sharon Guilford says she’s been homeless for two years.

She says finding a warm place to stay is her biggest struggle.

“It’s very important to get out of the cold weather because hypothermia can threaten you really quick,” Guilford said.
