City of Dothan, area organization celebrates Dr. King [Video]

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – The city of Dothan and its people, including one local organization, commemorated the legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the holiday bearing his name.

Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance, an organization of a group of pastors from all denominations coming together, was founded 40 years ago here in Dothan by Reverend Rochester Johnson Sr. From that organization came the addition of the Leadership Coalition, which included presidents of other organizations in the city coming together to handle the needs of the city.

The IMALC and Dothan’s Delta Sigma Theta Alumnae Chapter kicked off MLK Day with their annual breakfast at North Highland Baptist.

During the event, acts of African American history were on display in hopes of sparking a learning experience.
