Trump will rename Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America using an executive order [Video]

(Gray News) – President Donald Trump will sign an executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America on Monday.

“A short time from now we are going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America,” he said during his inauguration speech.

He first said he would change the name at a press conference at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month.

Presidents have the authority to rename geographic regions and features, but it must be done through an executive order.

Dozens of executive orders are expected to be signed Monday.
