KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Three school districts from around the Kansas City metro will take part in an exclusive pilot program to analyze how to best pay for cybersecurity upgrades.
The Federal Communications Commission recently announced that a handful of school districts from around the metro will take part in a three-year pilot program. The initiative intends to keep schools and libraries safe from future cyberattacks.
Commission leaders noted that in total, 707 participants were chosen for the Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program. This includes 645 schools and districts, 50 libraries and 12 consortia.
The FCC said participants will receive funds to purchase eligible cybersecurity services and equipment and provide the Commission with data to better understand how universal service funds could be used to improve the nation’s cybersecurity.
