The 2025 Australian Open’s villain du jour, Danielle Collins, has opened up on her running battle with the crowds following her tournament exit.
Collins went down 6-4 6-4 to compatriot Madison Keys in the third round, ending her Australian Open campaign.
In the second round, Collins defeated Australia’s Destanee Aiava in three sets but made several gestures and comments to the Kia Arena crowd, who were vocal in their support of the local hope.

After the match, and in the subsequent press conference, Collins didn’t mince her words:
“One of the greatest things about being a professional athlete is the people that don’t like you and the people that hate you, they actually pay your bills. It’s kind of a cool concept,” Collins said.
