GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a few days away, and Northeast Wisconsin Technical College brought the community together early to enjoy cultural performances, hand out awards, and honor Dr. King’s legacy.
No matter where you looked, people of all kinds, whether they’re black, white, part of the divine nine, or anywhere in between, were inside the student center at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to cherish Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and continue his mission.
“We’re celebrating an icon here. Somebody that really made it possible for us to have these types of celebrations. We’re celebrating somebody that made it possible for us as Black people to have more. To feel free,” said Sherman Calloway of Green Bay.
The college used this moment to highlight people within the community through cultural performances and awards.
