MLK Commission of Knoxville hosts Youth Symposium [Video]

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — With Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day coming up, the MLK Commemorative Commission of Knoxville has been hosting events to celebrate.

“Our goal is to commemorate the vision and the dream that Dr. King had. So we want to make sure that continues on, here in the city of Knoxville,” said Bishop Farris Long, Chair of the Youth Symposium for the MLK Commission.

The events are aimed at helping the community remember and reflect on the Civil Rights icon.

“This is MLK weekend, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and so we want to get our children involved in that process and learn what it means to be part of what is called ‘The Beloved Community’ and to play their part in it,” said Long
