Man in serious condition after hit-and-run in Salt Lake City [Video]

SALT LAKE CITY — After a 31-year-old man was struck by a car in Salt Lake City early Saturday, police say private security guards followed the driver and detained them for police.

Initial information suggests someone driving a black Audi hit the man, possibly as the man was starting to cross the street at 700 South and 600 West, according to a press release from Salt Lake City police department.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital in serious but stable condition, according to the release.

“The person driving the suspect car, a black Audi, did not stop,” the release says. A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was in the area and tried to stop the driver, but the driver escaped.
