VERMILLION, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -There’s a new leader or the pack in Vermillion as the University of South Dakota becomes the latest school to make a change at the top of their football program.

For the second straight week, one of the state’s major flagship college football programs introduced a new head coach.

The difference at the University of South Dakota is that we first got to hear his predecessor say goodbye.

Less than 24 hours after Bob Nielson announced via press release that he was retiring, the 65-year-old took questions about why he was stepping away after nine seasons at the helm of USD and 40 total years in coaching.
