Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares is headed to injured reserve for at least one week after sustaining an injury in Wednesday’s practice.
“Tavares out a least a week after practice injury from yesterday,” NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said on X.
According to the Leafs’ public relations team, Tavares has a lower-body injury.
During a corner drill, Tavares’ left skate was crossed up with defenseman Chris Tanev and he fell to the ice in somewhat of a scissor split.
Tavares was visibly shaken up, but returned to his feet on his own and skated off the ice.
