Shasta-Trinity National Forest updates on prescribed burns to reduce fire fuels | News [Video]

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – The Shasta-Trinity National Forest has released an update on its ongoing efforts to reduce fire fuels and enhance community safety through prescribed burns.

Since the beginning of October, various management units have been working to treat acres of land, reducing the risk of larger, uncontrolled wildfires.

The National Recreation Area Management Unit has been particularly active, treating 1,171 acres, with most of that work part of the Northwoods Project. The goal of these burns is to carefully manage vegetation to prevent excessive fuel buildup that could contribute to larger, more destructive wildfires.

The Shasta McCloud Management Unit has treated over 210 acres through pile burning, a controlled process where small piles of vegetation are safely burned. Meanwhile, the Trinity River Management Unit has treated over 286 …
