TIGARD Ore. (KPTV) – A third-party administrator that handles retirement savings plans for several Portland area schools discovered their computer systems were hacked in late December 2024, school officials announced Wednesday.
According to district officials, Tigard company Carruth Compliance Consulting discovered “suspicious activity” on their computers, and determined that sensitive information on employees and former employees of their clients had been compromised.
The following districts have said their employees may have been affected, along with “other school districts and possibly other public entities”:
- Parkrose School District
- Beaverton School District
- Hillsboro School District
- Portland Public Schools

According to officials, the hack may have impacted people employed by the schools from 2008 to the present, and stolen information may include names, Social Security numbers, financial account information and driver’s license numbers. For employees who have applied for a hardship loan, the information could also include W-2 information, medical billing information and tax filings.
