BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Mayor Randall Woodfin delivered his State of the City address Tuesday, outlining his administration’s plans to tackle issues like crime, policing and illegal dumping. Later in the evening, he held a State of the Community forum, giving Birmingham residents a chance to voice their concerns directly.
During the community meeting, Mayor Woodfin also highlighted a significant development for Birmingham — a $44 million tech hub grant awarded to One Hood and the Southern Research Institute. The mayor said this funding is a major step forward for innovation and economic development in the city.
But for many residents, the focus remained on everyday concerns like illegal dumping, blight, police staffing shortages, and crime, which continues to be a top issue.
