Another state has committed to supporting digital IDs in Apple Wallet by the end of the year. Illinois says it will launch “the best mobile ID program in the nation” by the end of 2025…

New legislation went into effect in Illinois on January 1 that allows the Secretary of State’s office to issue digital ID cards and driver’s licenses for the first time. As part of that program, the state is also collaborating with Apple to support IDs in Apple Wallet.

In a press release today, Illinois Secretary Alexi Giannoulias confirmed that the state will launch support for IDs in Apple Wallet by the end of the year.
