Mixed-use development coming to old Doraville Kmart property [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – There are plans to bring a mixed-use development to the property where a Kmart once was on Buford Highway in Doraville.

The development would be called Lotus Grove and would consist of over 700 multi-family residential housing units, plus retail, according to the website for the developers, Insignia.

Residents told Atlanta News First they welcome new development in the city.

“This area has been like this now for a few years, and it’s really an eyesore,” Lisa Bonner, a resident, said. “So, I feel like this would be great for the community.”

The units would be in two 12-story towers, making them the tallest in the city of Doraville. On their website, the developers say the idea is to turn the space into an urban lifestyle development.
