Teen arrested in Monroe Co. following police chase [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio — A 15-year-old was taken into custody in Monroe County late Sunday after allegedly leading law enforcement on a chase. 

According to a press release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, authorities attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the city of Monroe, near East Third and South Monroe Streets around 8 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle fled the traffic stop, the sheriff’s office said, the suspect vehicle accelerating to over 60 mph. Authorities said the initial pursuit was terminated. 

The Monroe Public Safety Department then initiated another pursuit with the same vehicle near Winchester and East Elm streets, the sheriff’s office reported, before ultimately becoming involved in the chase northbound on I-75 off of Dixie Highway.
