DERRY’S Gareth McKinless has opened up on the ‘stupid incident’ that led to his dismissal in last summer’s All-Ireland SFC clash with Galway.
The 2023 All-Star defender revealed that he apologised to Damien Comer for what Tribe boss Pádraic Joyce termed ‘a nasty stamp’ on the forward’s ankle.
The actions of McKinless came under much scrutiny as he served a two-match ban for the red card he was subsequently shown in the 21st minute of Derry’s five-point defeat.
