ANNISTON, Ala. (WBRC) – Following Friday’s winter storm, Calhoun County is blanketed with snow. Several cities in the county shut down many of its roads and deemed them impassable. That includes Anniston.

The city reopened its roads around 1 p.m. but are keeping an eye on streets as temperatures could dip below freezing Friday into Saturday, freezing the slush left from the snow.

Jackson Hodges is the Public Relations Director. He said drivers should be extra careful if they have to drive, especially on secondary roads.

“Another reason to travel with extreme caution because you can get in a situation that may either leave you stuck or it may take us time to get to you. So again, it’s just a situation where people really have to evaluate travel at their own risk and we certainly urge the highest level of caution,” said Hodges.
