2 house fires occur within 9 hours in Brent [Video]

BRENT, Ala. (WBRC) – Firefighters in west Alabama worked to put out two fires in a nine-hour stretch while battling the freezing cold and wind. One of the homes was destroyed.

“It’s not a normal day for us. I will say that,” said Brent Volunteer Fireman and Public Relations Specialist Jason Elam.

The first house fire came in around 6 p.m. Monday off McMillan Street in Brent, a small attic blaze.

9 hours later, Kasey Jones with the Centreville Volunteer Fire Department assisted Brent with putting out a mobile home fire on Aaron Drive.

It was fully involved when firefighters got on the scene, but the home was vacant. At 3 in the morning the temperature hovered around 28 degrees.
