Huntsville animal advocacy groups looking for change [Video]

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville City District 5 Councilman John Meredith hosted his January forum tonight and the main topic of discussion was animal protection.

“We have to remember that we work at the will of and the direction of our communities,” Huntsville Animal Services Director John Fischer said.

Fischer was ready to answer any comments or concerns from animal advocates in the Rocket City this afternoon.

“We’re going to talk about the expectations from our community, how we can partner with our community to help animals and those people that are helping animals,” Fischer said.

One of the groups in attendance was No-Kill Huntsville, a coalition of local animal welfare advocates, rescuers and shelter directors. Their goal is to make Huntsville a place where healthy and treatable animals are not destroyed in the municipal shelter using tax dollars and resources.
