Burlington Dems pick nominee to replace Joan Shannon [Video]

The Burlington Democratic Party nominated three candidates to run for City Council seats at the Town Meeting Day Nominating Caucus on Sunday.The event at the Fletcher Free Library had over 500 people register to vote.For the North District, Burlington Democrats nominated Mark Barlow to run on the ballot. Barlow currently serves on the city council as an Independent but will run as a Democrat in March. For the East District, the group nominated Allie Schachter. Schachter is the Director of Development at the Flynn. The East District seat is currently vacant after the departure of Tim Doherty, who was appointed by Gov. Phil Scott as a superior court judge in November. Burlington Democrats nominated Ranjit “Buddy” Singh to run for the South District seat, which is currently held by long-time city councilor and former mayoral candidate, Joan Shannon.
