President Biden awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal to Evan Wolfson, founder of Freedom to Marry, and Mary Bonauto, senior director at GLAD Law, during a ceremony at the White House over the weekend. Both were instrumental in the 2015 Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage. Biden praised their advocacy and dedication to the queer community and our fight for marriage equality.
The Presidential Citizens Medal was established in 1969. The award honors those who have made extraordinary contributions to the nation.More here from our friends at the Advocate.com
