Fort Worth: Man killed after altercation with estranged wife, police say [Video]

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man died Wednesday after he was shot by his estranged wife, Fort Worth police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting call around 1:07 a.m. Jan 1 in the 8800 block of Sabinas Trail, Fort Worth police said in a press release. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect leaving the home and detained her, police said. 

Officers found a victim, identified as Joel Kieth Simmonds, inside the home with a gunshot wound to his torso, the release states. Simmonds was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

Detectives learned that Simmonds and the suspect were getting divorced but live in the same house, police said.
