10th Annual Wrightsville Plunge takes place on New Years Day [Video]

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Saying goodbye to 2024 and hello to 2025. All while supporting a good cause. That’s what the community did today in Wrightsville Beach while also being daring enough to jump into the cold water.

Many were brave enough to jump in and support Communities in Schools Cape Fear.

Communities in Schools is a local nonprofit organization that works to keep kids in school and provide resources for students and their families.

It raises thousands of dollars each year. People come out with their friends, and families, some in groups with matching t-shirts and costumes.

Many people are first-timers, others seasoned veterans. Everyone says the feeling is first shockingly cold, followed by a surprisingly warm feeling, but if there’s one thing everyone can agree on, it’s that supporting the kids is what it’s all about.
