Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department investigating morning shooting in Pomeroy [Video]

POMEROY, Iowa — Two people are in the hospital with gunshot wounds after a Tuesday morning shooting in the city of Pomeroy, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said.

The conditions of those hospitalized is unknown at this time, the sheriff’s office added.

“Preliminary reports indicate that an altercation inside an apartment escalated into an exchange of gunfire,” a press release states.

According to the department’s announcement, all individuals involved are accounted for, but the investigation is ongoing.

The sheriff’s department believes the incident was isolated in nature, and said it no longer poses a threat to public safety.
